We would like to present to you the new micro website of the Embassy of Mexico in Australia: http://mexico.org.au/mexicangastronomy/index.html
This year, Mexico and Australia celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations, and there is no better way to do it than by sharing Mexico´s rich and diverse gastronomy, one of the most celebrated and appreciated aspects of our culture.
Our gastronomy is ancient and diverse, being declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Our modern and vibrant food has made Mexico the home of some of the best chefs and restaurants in the world. The popularity and versatility of our cuisine means that it can be enjoyed at any place and time, and that it is available to all budgets.
Our exceptional food culture comes accompanied by an outstanding variety of beverages. Every day, Mexican tequila, mezcal, wine, beer, coffee, and fruit flavoured drinks receive more recognition around the world for their unique flavours. The same can be said about our marvellous and delicious traditional Mexican sweets and candies, and its contemporary desserts.
The enthusiasm for Mexican Gastronomy in Australia has grown, resulting in over 600 Mexican restaurants in the nation, as well as dozens of producers and distributors of Mexican food, condiments and beverages. There are also numerous TV shows, articles and books published on the topic.
The main goal of this website is to contribute to create synergies among all the members of the food industry for their mutual benefit. We also look to create a connection and a sharing space with the millions of foodies and friends of the Mexican gastronomy in Australia.
