President’s Update: H1 2026 Update & Where We Focus Next

Six months ago, ANZMEX went through a genuine reset. It feels right to pause and reflect on what that reset has produced, and, more importantly, on what it now allows us to focus on.
The numbers speak for themselves. Net membership grew 30% against a target we’d set to stretch us, with 13 new members joining across every tier and churn staying low. Our voice grew alongside it: a brand new Instagram presence, a fivefold jump in LinkedIn visibility, and steady newsletters keeping the community in the loop. And we showed up. Our Friends of ANZMEX Drinks every other month, an AU Embassy/ANZMEX/ALABC Women’s Equality & Direct Connectivity Executive Roundtable, an AI webinar, our World Cup Fan Hub, a session in Sydney on investing in Mexico, and the launch of our podcast series: Conversations with ANZMEX. The snapshot below illustrates the full picture.
I want to thank our Board, our working group leads commencing these important subject matter collectives, and every member who referred a colleague, showed up to an event, or simply gave us their time this year. This is a volunteer-led organisation, and none of this happens without you.
But I’ll be direct about something: growth was never the point. It was the precondition. Having rebuilt our base and proven the model works, my focus, and the Board’s, for H2 is turning inward, toward the members we already have. That means more direct advocacy on the issues actually affecting your businesses here, closer one-on-one engagement from your Directors, and working groups organised around real opportunities and real problems — in Energy, Risk & Trade, Infrastructure, and Mid-Market/SME — rather than a calendar of events for their own sake.
So my ask of you is simple: tell us where it hurts. If there’s a regulatory issue, a market access question, or a challenge where ANZMEX could be doing more on your behalf, I want to hear it directly.
